The esplanade a shared space to reconcile neighborhoods

The project is a research on mid height types of housing. We want to propose a transition model between high residential complexes and small detached houses. The urban arrangement reunites disparate neighborhoods. The master plan promotes mixed uses programs and social diversity. The master plan deals with highway issue that isolated the city from the suburb.

Three neighborhoods with a unique function split by the highway
Confluence area where the districts meet
Construction of an urban esplanade over the highway that settles in three buildings rows
Expansion of Montsouris Park vegetation by growing plants and gardens in the middle of Chaperon Vert city

We explore notions about piazza types: Cathedral Square, secular plaza (signoria) and marketplace.  We renew those concepts throughout our public space. From south to north, we can find vegetable greenhouses, a covered market, a courtyard related to artist workshops, a basilica square and an open sky strip mall.

The buildings are implanted around the existing context. The basilica is preserved. Industrials workshops are restructured to welcome artist workshops, or to allow cars circulations.

Establishing roads continuity and visual access, we emptied blocks’ ground floors.
